The Airport Authority of India, owing to poor-visibility across the region, has announced to reschedule all flight operations from the Chandigarh airport.
The new flight scheduled will be implemented after the official notification, which is expected to be released before Thursday. As per the new schedule, the flights will now operate between 11.20 am to 5.35 pm.
This is for the second time that the local authorities have changed the schedule after a notification by the Airport Authority of India regarding poor visibility across the region. “We are yet to announce the new flight schedule. The schedule has been changed following a notification regarding poor visibility and high-risk of flight cancellation. The flights will now operate between 11.20 am and 5.35 pm earlier these operated between 8.35 am and 7.20pm” said a source in the local airport authority office. Four-flights have been cancelled as it failed to fit in the time slot till further notification. Spicejet has cancelled Delhi- Chandigarh- Delhi flight partially till January 31. Meanwhile, the airlines have already started conveying their respective passengers, regarding the change in time of the flights. “Even today, only one flight operated at 8.35 am while all the others were rescheduled. The step was ensured following poor visibility across the region. Landing in Chandigarh is still far better than Delhi or Srinagar. The route to other cities is affected due to change in the weather” stated an official seeking anonymity.
