Former PGI director’s wife passes away

Chandigarh, March 26
Janaki Anand, widow of former PGIMER Director Dr Santokh Singh Anand, passed away at PGIMER here this evening. She was 92.
She will be cremated at the Sector 25 cremation ground at 2 pm on Monday, said Dr Anand’s nephew, Dr PS Anand.
She is survived by two sons — Dr Inderjit Singh Anand and Dr Bhupinder Singh Anand — and two grandchildren.
Dr Santokh Singh Anand, a highly acclaimed Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, United Kingdom, was the PGIMER Director from 1961 to 1968. He had served as the principal of Government Medical College, Amritsar, between 1956 and 1960.
