Four Army men killed in Hafruda firefight in north Kashmir

Four  Army men were killed during an overnight gunfight in the forest of Hafruda in frontier Kupwara district of north Kashmir. The gunfight broke out last evening and is still underway.

A massive search operation was launched by the Army and police on Sunday afternoon after an input that militants were hiding in the area.

Meanwhile, in an another incident, an unidentified militant was killed in an ongoing firefight in north Kashmir's frontier Kupwara district.

The Army said a search operation was launched in Krusun Lolab area, over 120 kms from here last evening after a tip off about presence of militants in the area.

"The contact with the militants was established mid night and in the firefight one militant has been killed so far," the Army said. The identity of the slain militant could not be established immediately.

The Army said one AK 47 was recovered from the area and the operation was  underway.
On Sunday two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad, including its top most commander in Kashmir Adil Pathan, were killed in a gunfight in south Kashmir.

Police maintains that killing of Pathan and his associate was is a blow to Jaish’s overall presence in south Kashmir.
