Four youths killed in mishap near Ludhiana

Four youngsters were killed in a road accident when the Honda City they were travelling in rammed into a tree at Detwal village near Mullapur Dakha in the district this afternoon. They were heading towards Isewal village from Ludhiana when the tragedy occurred.

The deceased were identified as Ishani (22), Rishika Bassi (23), Saiyam Arora (24) and Gorish Kumar (23). Akshit Kumar (23), who was critically injured, was rushed to the DMC Hospital.

Rishika was a resident of Haibowal Kalan, while the others were residing in the Civil Lines here. Ishani and Rishika were students of Government College, Ludhiana, while Saiyam and Gorish were studying in a Ghaziabad college and the RIMT College, Mandi Gobindgarh, respectively.

Local residents helped the police extricate the bodies. Police sources said the car was being driven rashly. Some witnesses said the youths seemed to be in an inebriated condition as a liquor bottle was found in the car. Dakha SHO Gurpreet Singh said the police were probing the matter.
