Free heartcheck-up camp

A free heart check-up camp was organised by the SPS Hospitals at Dr DN Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital. Senior cardiologist Dr Pawan Suri, along with his team, examined 115 patients for cardiac ailments. Interacting with the patients, Dr Suri stressed on the need for lifestyle modifications for better health and a healthy heart. He also asked the people to guard against high risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol to keep heart disease at bay.

Conference

Ludhiana circle conference of the Punjab National Bank Officers Assocation was held at Pensioners Bhawan, Mini-Secretariat. It was presided by Roshan Lal Arya, president of the association. Chief Guest Krishan Kumar, secretary, All-India PNB Officers Federation, said a holiday on the second and fourth Saturday for banks would be a relief for employees. He added that action must be taken against people who don’t return bank loans intentionally. Sarabjit Singh from the association said five-day week, regulated working hours, improvement of pension policy, recruitment of staff in banks are the need of the hour.

Blood donated

A blood donation camp was organised jointly by Fateh Federation and United Youth Federation at Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Akal Sahib Street No. 1. Voluntary blood donors came forward in large numbers and 200 units of blood were collected during the camp, which was inaugurated by Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria. Sohan Singh Goga, president of the United Youth Federation, and Harjot Singh, president of the Fateh Federation, felicitated the donors. — TNS
