Gasota temple mahant back

Mahant Vivek Giri, who had fled the Gasota Mahadev temple here after alleged threats from a police officer and two associates, recently returned to the temple after getting an assurance of security from the district police chief.

The mahant said he would give the entire evidence to the CID, which was investigating allegations and counter-allegations in the matter. The mahant had submitted a complaint to the SP that the Additional Superintendent of Police was demanding money to hush up a case against him.

There had been complaints against the mahant that he was misappropriating temple funds. The mahant claimed that the allegations levelled against him were baseless and framed to tarnish his image. — OC
