A high drama occurred at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Mubarak Mandi, when a girl student alleged that a teacher misbehaved with her during distribution of dresses for Republic Day celebrations.
The incident reportedly occurred in the morning when dresses for the Republic Day celebrations were being distributed among all the participating students on the school premises. Around 200 students of the school, which is one of the oldest government institutions in the winter capital, are participating in this year’s Republic Day celebrations at MA Stadium, Jammu.
One of the girl participants of Class XI alleged that she was pushed by a teacher during the distribution of the dresses. Later, she informed her family about it. The mother of the girl along with others reached the school to take up thematter with the school management. It was only after a long discussion with the Principal and staff members, the mother of the girl and others were pacified and the matter was resolved amicably.
When contacted, Neelam Gandotra, Principal, GGHSS, Mubarak Mandi, told The Tribune that it was a minor issue, but blown out of proportion. “Our teacher was distributing the dresses among the students for tomorrow’s function at MA Stadium. Obviously there were more than 200 students to whom the dresses were to be distributed and it was taking time,” said the Principal.
