Glaucoma Week campaign

Dr Rakesh Gupta, state programme officer, National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), launched World Glaucoma Week campaign by releasing glaucoma awareness poster at Dr Ramesh Super Specialty Eye and Lasik Centre, here today. Dr Rakesh Gupta said as the incidence of irreversible blindness, the glaucoma is on rise in our society. Its early detection can delay the progression of blindness .So awareness and early start of treatment can help someone from permanent blindness. Glaucoma is known as silent killer of sight. Dr Ramesh MD, Dr Ramesh Super Specialty Eye and Laser Centre said they are going to participate in World Glaucoma Week at various levels such as awareness, sensitisation, diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment provided free of cost.

Birth anniversary

Sahir’s Writers Association — a group of Sahir’s fans of Golden Jubilee Year 1971 — from SD Government College, Ludhiana, and some NGOs will jointly celebrate poet Sahir Ludhianvi’s birth anniversary at Sahir Auditorium of the college. Fans of Sahir’s poetry and lyrics will enthrall the audience with his famous poems and songs. People from all walks of life l and college alumni and students will participate in the programme. Chairman elected

SS Bhogal, chairman, Bhogal Sales Corporation and co-patron of Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organization (FICO) has been elected as chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Punjab State Council.
