Globemaster lands at Jolly Grant airport
Dehradun, March 3
The largest transport aircraft C-17 Globemaster of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was successfully landed at the Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun today. It returned to its base at Meerut after collecting armed forces consignment. It successfully landed at the Jolly Grant airport at 8 am. Globemaster flew back to the Meerut airbase at 9.35 am.
Sources confirmed that preparations were being made since Thursday night when air traffic control members were told about the aircraft schedule. The crew members of the aircraft loaded armed forces equipment and other materials from six fully loaded trucks and a car on the aircraft. Residents, living near the airport, came out of their houses when they heard strange noises.
The entire operation was conducted under the leadership of airport director V Krishan Kumar. The air zero zone was declared for the operation. No other plane or helicopter was allowed to land or take off during the operation.—TNS
