After introducing online admission process for the first time, the government degree colleges in the winter capital city today released their first list of cut-off percentage for admission to various undergraduate programmes.
At Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar, the highest percentage was recorded in the medical stream with “101”, while the cut off was 85.4 per cent. A total of 200 students were registered for taking admission in the first semester.
Prof Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the college, said, “as far as highest percentage of 101 is concerned in the medical stream, if a student has secured 96 per cent marks and he belongs to any category, he will get an additional 5 per cent.”
In arts, the highest percentage was registered at 99.2, while the cut off was 58.8 per cent. As many as 998 students were registered for admission in the first merit list of the college to pursue the course.
In non-medical, the highest percentage was registered at 97.4, while the cut off percentage was 74. A total of 150 students registered for admission. Geography too registered percentage of 99.2, while the cut off percentage was 83.6. 100 students were registered for admission in the first merit list.
Statistics registered highest percentage of 94.4, while the cut off percentage was 75.4.
The highest percentage of 98.80 was registered in BSc (medical) at GCW, Parade, for which the cut off percentage was 71. It was followed by BSc (non-medical) with highest percentage of 96.80 and lowest of 62.20 for admission.
At Government MAM College, the arts stream recorded highest percentage of 99, while the cut off percentage was 56.4. In the first merit list released by the college, total 750 students were registered to take admission in the first semester.
Dr Anita Sudan, Principal of the college, said, “The online admission has received an overwhelming response. I do not think that there is a need to release second list of candidates, because more than 700 candidates have been registered for admission in arts”. “First we look at the intake capacity of the college for this stream and if there is a need to increase strength we will release the second merit list,” she added.
In sciences, the highest percentage was registered at 97.2 while the cut off percentage was 63.4. Total 450 students were registered for admission.
In the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the highest percentage was 92.2, while the cut off was 77 per cent. Similarly, for the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), the highest percentage was 90.6, whereas the cut off percentage was 70.8.
A total of 562 candidates were registered for admission in the first semester for BCom at the Government SPMR College of Commerce, Canal Road. The highest percentage was recorded at 96.8, while the cut off percentage was 74.4 per cent.
For BBA, 94.6 was the highest percentage, while the cut off percentage was 82.8. Total 60 students were registered for admission. In BCA, the highest percentage was 87.8, while the cut off was 74.4 per cent with 40 students registered for admission in the course.
