Haryana Speaker Kanwar Pal Gurjar said here today that he was hopeful the GST Bill would be passed unopposed in the House during a one-day special session convened for May 4.

“Since GSTis scheduled to be implemented throughout the country from July 1, all states are required to pass it before that date,” said the Speaker .

He said the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha had already passed the GST Bill.

He said besides boosting revenue and raising employment, GST would build a transparent and corruption- free tax administration.

“GST is one of the biggest fiscal reforms in India since Independence,” said Speaker Kanwar Pal.

He said except for liquor, petrol, diesel and some other items, all other goods had been covered under GST.
