Guinness records can be handmade, says Maninder Sharma, Head, Hand Knitting, Sales, Ganga Acrowools Limited. The company is thrilled to receive Guinness record certificate. Proudly displaying the certificate at press meet today, Sharma said it all started with a cause and determination of inspired group of amazing ladies across India , who formed a group MICQ – Mother India’s Crotchet Queen – The group of women (many of them not formally educated) runs a passionate social platform , and work for passion and joy of knitting without any vested commercial interest. They thought of creating a world record by knitting largest crotchet blanket. During the attempt they fell short of resources and Ganga Acrowools Limited supported them by sponsoring them. In fact during the process, the quantity of yarn required was revised to three times It took 1,800 ladies eight months to create 11148.5 square meters (1,20,001 square ft) blanket, which was unveiled in Chennai.
