Guv felicitates budding singer

Governor NN Vohra has felicitated a budding singer and also presented rolling trophies to the universities of Kashmir, Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
The Governor presented a cash award of Rs 5,000 to Sonali Dogra, a student of Government Degree College, Parade, as a token of appreciation for an outstanding singing performance during the souvenir-release function of the Association of Social Health in India, which was held on April 20.
Congratulating the young and talented Sufiana singer, the First Lady and Governor wished her success in her career.
The Governor also presented rolling trophies to the universities of Kashmir, Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and asked their Vice Chancellors to organise annual declamation contests, which would involve participation of students from colleges and institutions of higher education in J&K, Punjab, Haryana, Union Territory of Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
It is envisaged that such an annual event will provide a fruitful opportunity for the participants, particularly those from the colleges in the remote areas of J&K, to engage in meaningful public debates on important issues and also enhance their confidence and capacities.
The dates for these declamation contests shall be fixed by the universities concerned.
