Governor NN Vohra participated in the celebrations of the 32nd National Pensioners’ Day programme, organised by the Central Government Pensioner’s Welfare Association here today.
The Governor complimented the association for running a versatile organisation which looks after the interests of the pensioners, besides carries out activities to promote social welfare.
Vohra suggested that the association could consider utilising its valuable collective wisdom, comprising the lifelong experiences of its eminent members, to serve as a vital element of the civil society and to advance the interests of the people at large. He said; “It could also help the government in carrying out pressing reforms in the governance system of our country.”
On the occasion, a powerpoint presentation on the activities of the association, with special reference to natural hazards in J&K, was made by VP Sharma, patron of the association.
The welcome address and the vote of thanks were presented by SS Wazir and BK Raina, president and vice-president of the association, respectively.
