The J&K Haemophilia Society, Jammu chapter, organised a continuing medical education-cum-patient awareness programme on the haemophilia genetic bleeding disorder.
Society founder Jagdish Sharma welcomed all dignitaries from Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital, Jammu, and patients. He highlighted the problems being faced by the patients, especially from the far-flung areas.
Sharma appealed to the authorities to supply medicines to the centres identified by the J&K Medical Supplies Corporation (JKMSC) in Kathu, Rajouri, Poonch and Doda.
Promising the parents of patients of the quality of procured blood clotting factors, MD of the JKMSC Dr Yashpal Sharma said the corporation had procured the factors from a company on lowest rates after getting the testing reports from the National Institute of Biologicals, which is the biggest testing lab in the country.
“Following the guidelines of the World Federation of Hemophilia and World Health Organisation, the factors were procured by the JKMSC and the samples were also sent to others labs for testing. After receiving reports from all labs, the corporation has found the factors up to quality,” Dr Yashpal Sharma added. — TNS
