Haridwar rail station to have world-class waiting lounge

The Northern Railway has sanctioned a state-of-the-art waiting room for transit passengers and a night shelter (rain basera) at the Haridwar railway station. Pramod Kumar, Divisional Manager Northern Railways, Moradabad, informed mediapersons here today.
The waiting room will be named after Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar while the night shelter after Sant Ravi Das.
The project is a part of making Haridwar railway station of international standard.
Pramod Kumar said e-tenders for the projects have been completed. The quality of works will be monitored by a third party agency.
Rajya Sabha member Tarun Vijay will lay the foundation stone of the projects on March 6. He has sanctioned Rs 2 crore from his MPLADS fund.
Desh Raj Karnwal, representative of Tarun Vijay said the MP had released a first instalment of Rs 1.5 crore and the second instalment would be released after the work begins. The project is expected to be completed within a span of six months.
During the stone laying ceremony, Haridwar Lok Sabha MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, city Legislator Madan Kaushik, Ranipur-BHEL Legislator Aadesh Chauhan, Jwalapur Legislator Chandra Sekhar Bhattewal, Lakshar Legislator Sanjay Gupta, Haridwar( rural) Legislator Swami Yatishwaranand and Mayor Manoj Garg will remain present.
