Heavy rain lashes state, more to come

The state saw heavy rain on Friday with Joginder Nagar recording the highest rainfall at 165 mm, the Met office said. The showers are expected to continue till Sunday.

"Monsoon was aggressive in the state during the last 24 hours. Precipitation occurred at most places with very heavy rainfall in Mandi, Kangra and Solan districts," said an official of the Met office. Shimla got 22 mm rain.

Arki town in Solan district got 85 mm, while Baijnath in Kangra district received 45 mm and Sarkaghat in Mandi district 44 mm.

A government spokesperson said the Satluj, Beas and Yamuna rivers and their tributaries were in spate in Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur and Sirmaur districts. — IANS
