The Sikh shrines of Hemkund Sahib and Reetha Sahib have also been included in the 'Mere buzurg, mere teerth (my elders, my pilgrimage) scheme of the state government, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said here today.
The Chief Minister, while addressing a gathering at the Uttarakhand Punjabi Bhaichara Sammelan hosted by Punjabi community organisations here, said that Uttarakhand was like a bouquet of various communities of which Punjabis were an integral part. He assured the community members of setting up Punjabi and Urdu academies soon. He said land would also be given to construct Gyaan Godri Sahib gurdwara in Haridwar.
He said Hemkund Sahib was being developed as the fifth dham and helipad and ropeway were being set up there.
State Minority Commission Chairman NS Bindra, former Cabinet minister Tilakraj Behad, MLA Umesh Sharma, Rajkumar and Pradeep Batra were present on the occasion.
