Huge gathering expected at Bagwal fair

Pithoragarh, August 12

More than 1 lakh devotees are expected to attend the Bagwal fair at Devidhura in Champawat district on August 29.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who will be the chief guest, has approved Rs 15 lakh for the festival.

Khushal Singh Adhikari, chairperson of the Champawat Zila Panchayat and mela organiser, said the CM had decided to promote tourism through the mela and instructed to make it more attractive from the religious point of view. He had included the fair in the list of permanent fairs of the state, Adhikari added.—OC

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
