City lad Jatin Khurana, who has entered the 12th level of Masterchef India- Season 5, yesterday paid a visit at the Upper House restaurant. To boost his confidence and encourage him, Upper House gave him a recognition award. Jatin also demonstrated his culinary skills and cooked some delicacies. This is the first time a city person has made it to the Masterchef contest.
“I was planning to go in the season 4 but since it was an all-veg season, I decided that I’ll try in the next season. By the next season, I was working and making a decent amount of money but then my love for food made me fill up the form and then there was no looking back,” he said.
He further added, “I didn’t really prepare for the first round of auditions in Amritsar. I made authentic chicken tacos with refried beans, raw mango salsa and tortilla chips. In Delhi, for the mystery box, I made chicken roulade and a lichi relish. In Mumbai, I made burnt ginger rice and ginger mushroom chicken with orange ginger sauce and at last in Jodhpur, I made chicken dimsums, veg kung pao, jasmine rice and kimchi.”
He described himself as a careless lazy person who was never serious in life until Masterchef. “Being from a business class family, I decided not to join my dad’s business, did my masters and started my telecommunication and data solutions company but always loved cooking and here I am today,” he said.
