Jammu, March 26
Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, an IAS officer of the 2009-batch, has been selected for the country’s highest civil services honour, the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration.
The award carrying Rs 5 lakh cash, gold medal, scroll and a citation will be conferred upon the officer by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21 in Delhi during the Civil Services Day celebrations.
This year, 10 officers/initiatives across the country will get the highest civil services honour for their contribution to public service and administration.
The 34-year-old veterinary surgeon-turned-IAS officer is the youngest officer to receive the award. — TNS
