Come March 15, a “unique” business idea conceptualised by an alumnus himself will take roots on the IIT campus in Roorkee.

Prasoon Gupta, Director of Sattviko Foods, is hoping to cash in on his entrepreneurial skills by opening — Sattviko Idea Café —on the campus. Prasoon passed out from IIT Roorkee in 2010 after completing his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

“What better way than to give back to your institute in a small manner? Our café is based on the philosophy of ‘Food for Thought’. Amid the comfortable environment of a café and generous helpings of satvik food, students will be able to think innovatively and out of the box,” said Gupta.

While satvik food known for igniting intellectual activity will be on the top of the menu card, the café will also serve fusion food to satiate the appetite of students.

Gupta, who hails from a Marwari family, says, “The café will act as an incubation centre for ideas. The boys and girls at the cafe will be mentored in the best possible manner.”

Gupta and his partner Ankush Sharma have worked out an arrangement with the IIT, Roorkee, to lease them a place on the campus for running the café.
