Indira Amma Bhojanalaya inaugurated at Selaqui

Chief Minister Harish Rawat inaugurated an Indira Amma Bhojanalaya at the Industrial Estate at Selaqui here today.
The Indira Amma Bhojanalaya has been jointly started by SIDCUL and the Uttarakhand Industrial Welfare Association.
Rawat said the concept had been started to provide inexpensive and clean food to the poor. A provision of Rs 5 crore would be made in the budget in the next financial year to provide subsidy to the Indira Amma canteens.
He announced to give a roti-making machine and Rs 1 per plate as incentive to the Indira Amma Bhojanalaya at Selaqui. He also announced establishment of sewing, knitting and embroidery centres in all SIDCUL areas of the state in the next financial year.
Rawat said there was a need to promote traditional dishes and products. The government had been providing 2 kg of manduwa, 1 kg of kala bhatt along with 1 kg of iodised salt to expectant mothers.
SIDCUL managing director Rajesh Kumar said the canteen had been started within a month on the instructions of the Chief Minister. ‘Shakti, a women self-help group, is operating the canteen.
