A day after the NRI wing of police booked a city-based industrialist, Ashok Jain, for cheating the NRI daughter of Sudarshan Agarwal, former Governor of Uttarakhand and Sikkim, the management of Ludhiana Steel Group stated the Ashok Jain was not part of their company. In a communique to The Tribune, it was stated the Ashok Jain had nothing to do with the Ludhiana Steel Rolling Mills and its group of companies.
The communique stated that Ashok Jain, a resident of Gurdev Nagar, was the owner of Raghav Industries. Jain was booked under Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) and Section 420 (cheating) IPC on the complaint of Ritu Agarwal. Ritu had lodged a complaint with the police on October 2014 stating that Ashok had committed a Rs 20 lakh fraud with her. She said she had given Rs 20 lakh to Ashok in 2009. When he stopped paying the interest after October 2013, she requested him to return the money. He gave her a cheque for Rs 20 lakh which was dishonoured,” stated Ritu. — TNS
