Initiators of Change — a Ludhiana based youth empowerment group — organised a graffiti event named Kala Gali at Lakkar Bridge, where over 50 young artists participated.

The event, led by four young artists — Japneet Luthra, Japjeet Kaur, Harshleen Kaur and Karan Luthra — was organised in collaboration with the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation. Additional Commissioner Surbhi Malik visited the spot for the appreciation of artists.

Surbhi Malik appreciated the initiators of change for making students aware about the heroes of the city such as Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar. Harshleen Kaur, one of the lead artists, said: “The intention was not just beautification of the area, we wanted to make city based young artists’ work visible by organising a grand event. I feel blessed that so many people came up and it has eventually turned out to be the biggest graffiti event of the city so far.”

Gauravdeep Singh, the founder president of the organization, said they were a newly formed group of highly talented and enthusiastic youngsters who are giving all they can to the city. He said their mission was to provide youngsters opportunities in a formula of “4 As” — Academics, Arts, Athletics and Awareness.

The team is planning the main Kala Gali event from July 15 to 17, 2016, at the Sutlej Club to promote young artists of the city.
