The Himachal Pradesh State Veterinary Officers Association has strongly condemned the threaten and intimidation of veterinary officer Dr Sachin Shama posted at Bhambla in Mandi by a livestock owner for trying to get a false postmortem report of his dead buffalo to file a false revenue claim with concerned authorities.
Demanding stringent action from the law enforcement authorities against the culprit, president of the association Dr Sushil Sharma said that revenue claim was accepted and given only in the case of death of domestic animals due to natural calamities such as falling from height, animal burying under debris due to landslides, drowning, lightening etc.
But in this particular case the animal was sick and being treated for the last few days.
But once the animal died, the owner tried to lodge a case of false revenue claim for getting monetary relief from authorities, which was rejected outright by the officer concerned after ascertaining the real facts.
The person then allegedly used foul language against the officer and threatened him with dire consequences if the postmortem report pertaining to revenue claim was not issued to him.
The state veterinarians association has dubbed the incident serious and termed the acts of the person involved as a hindrance to the discharge of duties by the government employee.
The state veterinarians association further demanded immediate action on the FIR lodged by the police, besides providing security to Dr Sachin Shama in the wake of threats issued to him.
