Sahitya Akademi Award winner and senior IPS officer Manmohan released his book on the Dasam Granth here today. The book, “Dasam Granth Vich Mith Rupantar”, is a literary take on the revered Granth.

Manmohan said the book was a result of his 20 years of research on the poetry of the Guru, compiled in the Dasam Granth. “My doctoral research on the mythological poetry of Guru Gobind Singh in 1994 prompted me to research the topic more extensively. It is this research, done over more than two decades, that forms the book,” he said.

Manmohan said he has deliberately stayed away from the controversial part and instead concentrated on the process of transformation of mythological entities into poetry. “I have used the summary of Guru Dasam Granth Sahib written by Randhir Singh and published by Punjabi University as the basis of my research,” he said.

This is the 24th book written by Manmohan. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel, “Nirvaan”, in 2013. — TNS
