A French women married Amit Jain, scion of city-based Shingora Shawls, eighteen years ago.
Blessed with two kids, Isabelle has immersed herself into the Indian culture. She helps her mother-in-law in her shawl business, but her soul lies in books.
She is not just an arm candy for her husband, but has established herself professionally. Apart from helping in the shawl business, Isabelle teaches French at Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School.
Walking down memory lane, Isabelle said, “The cupid struck us in 1992 when I was pursuing Masters in Travel and Tourism in France as an exchange student, while Amit was perusing Bachelors in Science in Merchandise and Textile and we got married in 1998.”
They had two weddings — a church wedding in France and the one according to the Indian tradition in Ludhiana — and both were beautiful in their own way, said Isabelle.
Isabelle’s parents visit her regularly and Goa is their favourite holiday destination. “They love vibrant colours, spices and old monuments in India,” she beams.
“I celebrate Indian festivals, have Indian friends and fast at ‘karvachauth’ for my husband,” she said. “Kitty parties are not my cup of tea. My kind of relaxation is to have coffee with fellow book club members,” she said.
