General secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and former banker Jaswant Singh Mann passed away on Sunday night at a Mohali hospital, where he was admitted after a heart attack. He was 73.

He started his political career with student politics. He was elected president of the All-India Sikh Student Federation (AISSF) in 1967. He served on the post for three years. After completing his LLM, he started career as a bank employee in 1970.
