New Delhi, March 11
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today convened a meeting of senior party workers, including MLAs and former MLAs, in here today. It was decided in the meeting that they would fan out in their respective areas to restore peace and brotherhood which took a hit during the Jat agitation.
Former state Congress president Phool Chand Mullana said the meeting was convened at a very short notice and leaders from areas close to Delhi were asked to attend it. It was decided to take out a ‘sadbhavna’ march in Meham (Rohtak) on March 20 to promote brotherhood among all sections of society. Also, Hooda will address a meeting of party workers from Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Panchkula districts on March 19.
Addressing the meeting, Hooda said all Congress workers must take upon themselves to restore peace and brotherhood. He alleged that the government failed to discharge its duty in protecting the lives and property of people. “The BJP government did not implement its poll promise to provide OBC quota to the Jats even after more than a year of coming to the power. This led to unrest among the Jats, which was later manipulated and used by the government to foment violence,” he said.
He said the government was trying to implicate Prof Virender Singh for the violence by twisting the latter’s alleged conversation with a khap leader. A probe by a sitting Supreme Court Judge into the incidents would reveal the truth, he added.
