Pithoragarh, November 5
The international trade fair at Jauljibi this year will be organised from November 14 to 22. The district administration has started the preparations. HS Semwal, District Magistrate, Pithoragarh, stated this while talking to mediapersons after inspecting the mela preparations.
“We have made all arrangements for sufficient police force, water facilities, sanitation and electricity facilities for the mela. Traders who visit the mela should have better facilities as well as sufficient police security,” Semwal said.
The fair is organised at the Nepal border town of Jauljibi to create a market for woolens made by tribal craftsmen of Drama, Byans and Johar valleys of Pithoragarh district and Nepalese and Tibetan crafts from the past 200 years. Thousands of visitors from across the Kumaon region participate in the fair every year. —TNS
