Ludhiana, July 4
Jimmy Shergill and Surveen Chawla, lead actors of the upcoming Punjabi movie ‘Hero – Naam Yaad Rakhin’, were in city today to promote their movie.
Talking about the movie, Shergill said: “It is a romantic thriller and will be a path-breaking movie in Punjabi cinema as such a film has not been made here so far.”
He said the movie was based on a real-life story, adding that the entire movie was shot in Canada. “This is a different movie from all aspects and is of exact 100-minute duration,” he said.
Surveen too termed it a “different” movie. She did a movie ‘Dharti’ against Jimmy Shergill and the pair is back with yet another flick. The duo, however, remained tightlipped about the storyline. The movie is scheduled to be released in July 10.
Shergill said Punjabi audience had become discerning now and after a surfeit of Punjabi movies, they want to see good cinema.
“It is time filmmakers make good movies to take Punjabi cinema to the next level,” he said.
Talking about the need for governing bodies for Punjabi cinema, he said there was a need to streamline things in Punjabi film industry.
“There are associations such as the Indian Motion Pictures’ Association, a Producers’ Association in Bollywood and other film industries, but such a body is still not there in Punjabi cinema. As Punjabi cinema is evolving, such a body is the need of the hour for more streamlined processes and professionalism in the industry,” he said.
