Jolly elected Dist Bar Assn president

Chandigarh, December 22

Ravinder Singh Bassi, alias Jolly, and Vipan Negi claimed the posts of president and vice-president, respectively, of the District Bar Association in an elections held here at the District Courts Complex today . Presidential candidates Jolly bagged 678 votes, Shanker Gupta got 564 votes while Malkit Singh Jandiala could manage only 200 votes.

Negi became the vice-president claiming 587 votes surpassing his rivals Shanker Gupta (357), Parminder Singh (305) and Satinder Basia (166). Advocate Aditi Sheoron was elected as the joint secretary and Amritveer Singh as the treasurer of the DBA. — TNS
