To promote Punjabi Movie of his dear friend Deep Joshi, playback singer Tochi Raina visited city today. Raina, who sang ‘Kabira’ in the movie ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ said he was happy to be in city to promote Punjabi movie ‘Bhatinda Express’, which is scheduled to be released on April 8.
Talking to the Ludhiana Tribune, Raina said the lead actor in the movie, Deep Joshi was his dear friend and he came to city for him. Raina belongs to Patiala and his Guru Pt Vinod Kumar was a disciple of Ustad Bade Ghumal Ali of ‘Patiala Gharana’.
“Whatever I am today is because of my Guru. Though he is no more but his blessings are always with me. I sang “Bulleshah” in the movie “A Wednesday”. And then there was no looking back. ‘Iktara’ from ‘Wake up Sid’, ‘Ishq Waale Chor Hain’ for the movie Kya Yahi Sach Hai with Vishal Khurana, ‘Saibo’ for ‘Shor in the City’- a duet with Shreya Ghoshal have been appreciated by music lovers,” said Raina.
Tochi said he belong s to a family with background in music. His brother was a composer and his sister was PhD in classical music. His uncles and aunts were in music as well. According to him his gurus not only taught him music, but also taught to visualise his breath. Slowly, he started visualising words and he turned to spirituality and Sufi music.
Telling about ‘Bhatinda Express’, Raina said it was a story of an athlete, who achieved greater heights and suddenly hooked into drugs. And then he had to face difficult times to shun the habit.
