The Dalai Lama today announced that he would be holding 34 Kalachakra teaching in January 2017. He said this on the second day of Sixteen Drops of Kadam Empowerment teaching being held at Bylakuppe in Karnataka.
The Dalai Lama usually held Kalachakra teaching in January every year generally at McLeodganj. Since a large number of foreign tourists used to visit Dharamsala for the teachings it used to be a boon for local tourism industry. However, this year Kalachakra teachings were not held as the Dalai Lama was not keeping good health.
It is a complex teaching practice. There is a tradition of offering it to large public audiences. It teaches the practice of working with most subtle energies within one’s body on path to enlightenment. The Dalai Lama also expressed New Year greetings to the people.
The Central Tibetan Administration release today stated that the the Dalai Lama said, “We were supposed to conduct the 34th Kalachakra initiation in January 2016. However, due to my medical reasons and treatment, I had to postpone it. ”
