Karanprayag poll: Rain forecast to test readiness

The state Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rainfall in several cities and snowfall in higher areas across the state from March 7 to 11.

The state government will have to make arrangements to ensure that the polling in the Karnaprayag Assembly constituency on March 9 is held smoothly. The district administration will have to make necessary arrangements for the counting of votes on March 11 in view of the forecast of rainfall.

The forecast suggests that the temperature will further go down till March 12. Light to moderate rainfall has been witnessed in Gangotri, Bhatwadi and other cities in Uttarkashi district.

Vikram Singh, director of the meteorological centre, said rainfall and snowfall would occur due to western disturbances from March 7. Temperature was expected to go down in the coming week, he added.
