Chief Minister Harish Rawat said the contribution of first Chief Minister Nityanand Swami could not be forgotten.
Addressing a programme organised by the Sri Nityanand Swami Janseva Committee, he said felicitating exemplary figures was responsibility of the society.
He said Swami’s contribution in the formation of the state could not be forgotten.
The CM announced that Kargi Chowk would be renamed as Nityanand Swami Kisan Chowk. He also gave directions to install his statue at the crossing and area should be beautified. He said Nityanand Swami was a simple man and shared personal anecdotes.
The CM felicitated Rajya Sabha MP Manorama Dobriya Sharma, Haridwar MP Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli on the occasion.
