Srinagar, March 9
The Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) demanded reinstatement of its president, Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan, during a meeting with Governor’s Adviser Parvez Dewan today.
The delegation expressed dismay over the continued suspension of the DAK president, which it termed as “unjustified and illegal’.
Dr Nisar was suspended in May 2014 for allegedly raising his voice against fake drug perpetrators in “which some high-ups were involved, who hatched a conspiracy and fabricated a false and frivolous case”.
During the meeting, the delegation expressed grave concern over the “unabated influx of spurious drugs” into the Kashmir valley. “The drug market was unchecked and unregulated and no serious effort ws being made to curb the menace,” the DAK said.
Dr Nisar stressed on speedy implementation of the drug policy to ensure availability of free and quality drugs to poor patients in government hospitals. “The delegation informed the Adviser that the transfer policy was being violated and influential doctors enjoyed prize postings,” the DAK statement said.
