Kashmiri play ‘Ram’ staged at drama festival

On the fourth day of the ongoing Annual Drama Festival, organised by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, the Bhoorang Foundation staged a Kashmiri play “Ram”, written and directed by Makhan Lal Saraf at Abhinav Theatre here today.

The play “Ram” revolved around social aspect of life of the widows of King Dashrath after his death. Kakai has her own reasons, faults and arguments for sending Lord Ram to exile. Rajkumar Bharta argues as to why he was uprooted and planted in his grandfather’s house. The wife of Laxman, Urmila, has her own resentment with her husband.

The artistes who performed in the play were Shivam Bhat, Nipum Bhat, Kannav Chopra, Ranjeet Gurkha, Sahil Kaoul, Meenal Peer, Pankaj Handoo, Rohita Razdan, Rani Bhan, Kusam Dhar, Suman Pandita, Pran Chandera, Rajinder Tickoo, Bansi Matto and Makhan Lal Saraf. The lights of the play were handled by Raj Kumar Bhat, Naresh Koul and Jai Ram Magotra.
