Panchkula, May 4
The Panchkula health authorities are struggling hard to get a new building at the General Hospital in Sector 6 here inaugurated.
The problem has its genesis in the tiff between Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Health Minister Anil Vij that took place in February this year when the CM was invited for the inauguration of the building. However, when the health officials intimated Vij that they had invited the CM for the opening, he commented on the file that nobody informed him about it.
Later, Khattar, who was scheduled to inaugurate the building on February 20, failed to turn up. Officials at the CM office said he could not make it as he had some other urgent work.
However, neither the CM nor Vij agreed to inaugurate the building later even as they visited Panchkula for inaugurating several projects.
The local health authorities are tight-lipped on when the building would be inaugurated. They said the issue was to be resolved at the higher level and they were too ‘small’ to comment on it.
The hospital staff had burnt midnight oil to complete the building on getting the CM’s consent for inaugurating the building in February.
Some part of the building has been put to use. It was a much talked about project of the district.
