Kin seek relief, action against erring MC driver

A day after a 26-year-old man died after his bike rammed into a stationary truck belonging to the Municipal Corporation (MC), the relatives of the deceased staged a dharna outside the Zone C office here today. The relatives demanded action against the erring driver and compensation for the deceased’s family.

Kulbir Singh died last evening while he was returning home on a bike. An MC truck was reportedly parked on the road after its tyre deflated. Kulbir Singh rammed his bike into the stationary truck. He died on the spot.

The protest went on for nearly half an hour. Later, it was decided that first, the members of the deceased’s family would perform his last rites and the matter of compensation and action against the erring driver would be decided later. The relatives said the MC driver negligently parked the truck in the middle of the road. He did not put up any indicator to caution commuters. — TNS
