Kumaoni singer Rana gets lifetime award

More than 17 artistes from the regional film and music industry were felicitated for their contribution towards promoting the regional film industry held under the aegis of Uttarakhand Film Association at ONGC community centre in Dehradun today.

The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, senior Congress leader and MLA, Doiwala, Heera Singh Bisht, and MLA, Mussoorie, Ganesh Joshi by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Eminent Kumaoni singer Heera Singh Rana was awarded lifetime achievement award for his contribution in singing and bringing the regional aspects to life through his melodious voice as playback singer.

Raja Bhatt,Sanjay Saludi,Kusum Bisht, Virendar Negi, Birendar Dangwal, Rekha Uniyal, Vishal Naithani, Ganesh Viran, Rajesh Malgudi, Sudershan Shah, Manoj Ishtwal, Baburam Sharma, Kishan Bagot and Anukriti Gusain. Miss India Pacific girls from the region were felicitated for the their contribution in their respective creative field on the occasion.

The culture activist Anil Godiyal and Nikita Butola anchored the event and thanked the gathering for supporting the Uttarakhand film and music industry with their presence.

The president of Uttarakhand film association SPS Negi demanded that the government should announce a concrete film policy keeping in consideration the aspirations of the local artistes so that the culture of the region remains alive in the hearts of the people in this ever-changing world.

The dance troupe from Assam, Kumaon and Garhwal along with the singer Ankita mesmerised the audience with a colourful presentation in traditional attire on the occasion.
