Late running, cancellation of trains spells misery for passengers

Rail travellers continue to be a harassed lot as many long-route mail and express trains as well as quite a few passenger trains were running late.
The cancellation of one dozen trains for the day due to operational reasons further added to the woes of travelling public here.
Even though the weather was showing some signs of improvement, railway authorities say that speed regulations due to low visibility during early morning and evening were still in place keeping in view the passengers’safety.
It was officially stated that the 12029 New Delhi-Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi Express was delayed by 0.50 hours, 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express by 2.35 hours, 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar Intercity Express by 3 hours, 12459 New Delhi-Amritsar Intercity by 1 hours, 12413 Ajmer-Jammu Tawi Puja Express by 7.50 hours, 18101 Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Express by 4.40 hours, 12331 Howrah-Jammu Tawi by 3.30 hours, 12491 Barauni-Jammu Tawi Maur Dhwaj Express by 3.14 hours, 12919 Indore-Jammu Tawi Malwa Express by 2.40 hours and 13049 Howrah-Amritsar Express by 2.10 hours.
Some other trains including the 16317 Kanyakumari-Katra Himsagar Expres, 15707 Katihar-Amritsar Amrapali Express, 12471 Bandra Terminus Mumbai-Katra Swaraj Express, 11057 CST Mumbai-Amritsar Express, 74918 Lohian Khas-Ludhiana passenger and 54605 Sadulpur-Ludhiana passenger were running late by one to two hours.
According to officials, several mail and express trains were cancelled for the day due to operational reasons. These are the 11058 Amritsar-CST Mumbai Express, 12446 Katra-New Delhi Uttar Sampark Kranti Express, 12715 Nanded-Amritsar Sachkhand Express, 13005 Howrah-Amritsar Mail, 12919 Indore-Jammu Tawi Malwa Express, 13151 Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Mail, 14037 Delhi-Pathankot Express, 14645 Delhi-Jammu Tawi Shalimar Express, 15209/15210 Saharsa-Amritsar-Saharsa Jansadharan, 15707 Katihar-Amritsar Amrapali Express, 18101 Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Express and 19613 Ajmer-Amritsar Express.
