Justice Alok Singh, a judge of the Nainital High Court, has urged lawyers to be sensitive towards the interests of litigants as they have a vital role in providing justice.
The more they perform their duties diligently and honestly, the roots of judiciary gets further strengthened.
Justice Alok Singh was the chief guest of the oath-taking ceremony of the District Bar Association at Town Hall here yesterday. Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank was a guest of honour.
Justice Alok Singh termed the Indian democratic system as the best in world.
He said the judiciary in the country is quite strong and fulfiling its obligations as mandated by the Constitution of India and the people of the country.
Nishank spoke about the importance of profession of law and urged lawyers to work diligently in providing justice to the litigants.
District judge NS Dhanik said judges and lawyers were linked as two wheels of a vehicle that work in different capacities to provide justice.
Newly elected District Bar Association president Kuldeep Singh and secretary Sita Ram were among those who took oath.
Former Uttarakhand Bar Council president Yogendra Singh Chauhan, Haridwar city legislator Madan Kaushik, Ranipur-BHEL legislator Aadesh Chauhan, Mayor Manoj Garg, Civil DGC Sanjeev Kaushal, Subash Chandra Rana, Rajesh Rathore, Arun Bhadauria, Raj Kumar Chauhan, Sudhir Tyagi, Subash Chandra Rana, Vaish Alam, Sachin Chauhan, Mohammed Hanif, Rao Khalid, Rao Farman, Kulwant Singh, Vidya Sagar Shrivastava, Bhawan Kaushik and Kiran Katiyar attended the function.
