Activists of the Left parties took out a protest march against the Narendra Modi-led Central Government today, alleging rampant corruption in BJP-ruled states.

The agitators burnt an effigy of the Union Government and demanded immediate steps against public representatives facing corruption charges.

The agitated party activists from the CPI, the CPM, the SUCI and the CPI (ML) gathered at the Parade Ground, from where the march commenced. It passed through Kanak Chowk, Ashley Hall, Clock Tower, Panchyati Mandir Chowk and culminated at Lansdowne Chowk.

The activists alleged that the Centre had become ineffective in checking corruption in the government departments across the country. The NDA Government had not taken any initiative to remove or take disciplinary action against Union Cabinet ministers, MPs or chief ministers who were allegedly facing corruption charges.

The prices of essential commodities had increased manifolds in the last one-and-half-years, the protesters alleged.

Samar Bhandari, Indresh Maikhuri, Mukesh Semwal, Lekhraj, Anant Akash and others were present.
