LIC award
A prize distribution function was organized to honour the agents working under the leadership of Varinder Datta, Development Officer, Unit I, Life Insurance Corporation, Ludhiana. Rajinder Kumar, senior divisional manager, Ludhiana, was the chief guest. He gave away prizes to the team members. He exhorted them to develop and hone their skills to become professionals and act as financial planners for their policyholders. The prestigious “Sanjay Jindal Memorial Award of Excellence” for the year 2013-14 was conferred on Sandeep Dhamija for his excellent track record.
Print event
‘Romancing Print’ an international print research event will be held on behalf of All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) in collaboration with the Department of Printing Technology, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUS&T) at Hisar, Haryana. The aim of the event is to educate the Indian printers about developments and to prepare them for the future challenges. North India Printers Association (NIPA) and North India Printers Association Education Trust have also joined hands with Offset printers Association to make this event a great success.
BLS course
Indian Dental Association’s Ludhiana branch will be organizing a Basic Life Support course for 25 participants. Dr Rajan Bir Singh, secretary of association, said the course will be conducted at SPS Apollo Hospital. Dr Thind said Basic Life Support (BLS) is the level of medical care which is used for victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care at a hospital. It can be provided by trained medical personnel, including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and by laypersons who have received BLS training.
Road show
Members of the AAP, Ludhiana, carried out a mass contact programme-cum-road show in Ludhiana in coordination with AAP Office North. AAP district convener Ahbaab Singh Grewal said following the party’s phenomenal performance in Delhi, it was decided that AAP would carry out road shows in all constituencies of the district and try to reach out to maximum number of people.
Awareness programme
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute, Ludhiana in association with Fasteners Manufacturers Association of India, Ludhiana, organised a one-day awareness programme on product certification at MSME-Development Institute .Narinder Bhamra, president, Fastener Manufacturers Association of India (Regd), was the chief guest. The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among MSMEs about the various schemes of Government of India, Ministry of MSME for Technology and Quality Upgradation TEQUP. MSME manufacturing units will be provided subsidy to the extent of 75 per cent of the actual expenditure, towards obtaining product certification licensing from National Standardisation Bodies like (BIS), (ISI mark), BEE (Star rating) and Agmark etc. or International Product Certifications (CE, UL, ANSI. RK Parmar, assistant director, (MSME), explained the documentation required to claim the subsidy.
Makkar congratulated
SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar was congratulated for becoming the president of managing board of Takhat Shri Patna Sahib. Duing his visit to the city, he said he was humbled at being appointed as the President. He added that preparations would be made in a big way for the forthcoming 350th Gurpurab to commemorate the birth of Guru Gobind Singh in 2017. He said that all-round development and beautification of the Takhat would be completed before the occasion.
Police-public meeting
The Gaushala Wholesale Blankets Association organised a police-public meeting near Civil Hospital. ACP (Central) Satish Malhotra said in the face of increasing traffic problem, crime incidents and drug smugglers, people and shopkeepers must cooperate with the police to curb the crime. He said people should inform the police to help the police.
Meeting
The meeting of Punjab State Karamchari Dal, Ludhiana, was held today. Employees from different departments participated in the meeting and also discussed the problems faced by them. District president Hari Singh Tohra said the long pending demands of the employees have not been met by the government. They demanded that pay commission should be formed by the state government on the lines of central government.— TNS
