Literati-2015 begins

Chandigarh, November 6

Author Kiran Nagarkar was the main attraction during the inauguration of the 3rd edition of the Literati-2015, organised by the Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) at the Lake Club here today.

CLS chairperson and festival director Dr Sumita Misra traced the journey of the CLS from 2012 when a few like-minded friends got together to set up a forum for writers to discuss literary ideas. The festival started with the launch of Anupam Kher’s book. Nearly 60 authors are participating in the festival. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
