Local actress commits suicide

Richa Dhiman, an actress of Himachali films, committed suicide under mysterious circumstances at her rented room in Gamru on the Dharamsala-McLeodganj road.

Sanjeev Gandhi, SP, Kangra, said they got information today from the land owner of the building in which Richa had rented a room that she was not opening the door. On further verification, it was found that she had committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan. Richa was a resident of Malan area in Nagrota Bagwan area of Kangra district. She was 24 years old. On the statement of her mother, a case has been registered under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC. The mother of the deceased alleged in her complaint that her daughter committed suicide allegedly due to relationship with a constable. The police had also recovered a suicide note and the regional forensic laboratory team had collected samples from the site, the SP said.

Richa was famous locally and her death had shocked many. Conspiracy theories are also doing the rounds regarding her suicide.

Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Transport and Technical Education GS Bali said: “I have told the DGP that the call records of Richa should be screened so that the real cause of her death could be ascertained”.

He said her parents had met him after which he called up the senior police officials.
