Congress leader and SGPC member Kaka Sukhjit Singh Lohgarh has decided to resign from the membership of the religious body following the SAD-BJP government’s alleged inaction in dealing with prevailing social unrest in the state.
He accused Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal of creating unrest in the state for their vested political interests.
Kaka Lohgarh said the prevailing social unrest had “intentionally” been created by the Badal family to divert public attention from farm crisis and issues such as pesticide scam.
He sought resignations of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Agriculture Minister Jathedar Tota Singh and said both Akali leaders had betrayed farmers of the state.
“The Chief Minitser and the Agriculture Minister are directly involved in the pesticide scam. So, the Centre must order a CBI inquiry into the scam,” he said.
He has appealed to the people of the state to understand ground realities and refrain themselves from acting in haste on religious issues.
“The people should adopt democratic means to lodge their protest against the Akali leadership and force the Centre to order a CBI inquiry into the pesticide scam,” he said.
