Ludhiana gets economic offences police station

Inspector General and Director, Economic Offences Wing, Vigilance Bureau, B Chandrashekhar, today inaugurated the state’s first economic offences police station of the Vigilance Bureau here today.

Sandeep Goel have been appointed SSP of the police station. The already functioning EO wings of the Vigilance Bureau in Jalandhar, Patiala and Chandigarh will work under the police station.

Speaking to the media, Chandrashekhar said the move aimed at bringing transparency in the working of government departments and providing a corruption-free environment.

He said the police station would deal with economic offences by carrying out surprise checks in government departments on regular intervals. Chandrashekhar said if any person had information about any financial irregularity in government departments such as Excise and Taxation, Transport, or Industries, he could report at the police station.

Goel said complaints could be filed at 1800-1800-1000 or through e-mail. The SSP said the identity of the complainant would be kept secret.
